Protecting our Children

o        Rep. Bordsen is committed to protecting the most vulnerable children in our State.  She fought for the passage of Kaitlyn’s Law in 2003. That law strengthened existing protections for children in day care.  Rep. Bordsen continued her initiative to provide dollars for crisis centers that address the needs of child victims of sexual assault.  Among the centers that won full funding is Burlington’s CrossRoads Sexual Assault Response and Resource Center.

o        To protect our children’s personal information, this session, Rep. Bordsen fought for S212, which exempts identifying information about children participating in local parks and recreation programs from public records law.

o        Rep. Bordsen also supported the School Violence Prevention Act, which would protect our children from being bullied in public schools.
