BORDSEN HONORED FOR FULL DISCLOSURE ON CAMPAIGN REPORTS
DURHAM -
Democracy North
Carolina has identified 22 state legislators who are doing a
superior job in providing details about the occupation and employer
of their donors and the purposes of their campaign expenditures.
"These lawmakers are establishing themselves as role models for
doing the right thing when it comes to providing a clear picture of
their campaign finances," said Bob Hall, executive director of the
election reform watchdog group Democracy North Carolina.

HOUSE VOTES TO PROTECT CHILDREN'S INFORMATION
RALEIGH -
Representative
Alice Bordsen successfully pushed legislation through the General
Assembly this week which exempts certain information about children
from public records law. The Conference Report for
Senate Bill 212 was accepted by both the House and Senate
chambers today. The bill allows local parks and recreation
departments in North Carolina to limit the release of information
regarding youth enrolled in their programs.

BORDSEN FILES BILL IN SUPPORT OF YOUTH CRIME PREVENTION
RALEIGH -
Representative
Alice Bordsen (D-Alamance) announced legislation filed to increase
funding for Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils (JCPCs) by $5
million. Other legislators, child advocates, service providers
and other supporters gathered to show their support for this
proposal.

BORDSEN APPOINTED CO-CHAIR OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH COMMITTEE

Representative
Alice Bordsen (D-Alamance) was recently appointed co-chair to the
Legislative Commission on Children and Youth. This Commission is
statutorily created in order make recommendations to the General
Assembly to assist families in need.

BORDSEN ADDRESSES BURLINGTON CITY COUNCIL
BURLINGTON -
Rep. Alice Bordsen continued her
practice of greeting Burlington City Council at the Council meeting
last night. Traditionally, Rep. Bordsen tries to visit each
municipality prior to the beginning of the upcoming Legislative
session to discuss any areas where she can be of assistance.
The General Assembly will reconvene on May 13 this year.

BORDSEN HONORED WITH NC TASC AWARD
RALEIGH -
Rep. Alice Bordsen was presented an
award this week from North Carolina Treatment Accountability for
Safer Communities (NC TASC) in recognition of her "outstanding
dedication and leadership for individuals involved in the North
Carolina criminal justice system." The group, formerly
Treatment Alternatives to Street Crime, recognized the tremendous
effort Bordsen put forth in 2007 on behalf of its organization.
