Dear Alamance Citizens,

Thank you for visiting my online office.  It is a privilege to represent you in the North Carolina General Assembly.  I hope you find this online information helpful.  In looking around, you will discover the many ways my legislative office can serve you.

My work for you in my third term has focused on five substantive areas:

  • Economic investment in Alamance County workers and small businesses

  • Senior Citizens

  • Community colleges as a crucial component of worker education

  • Small business and affordable health care

  • Public safety

Focus on Children and Families

As chair of the Legislative Study Commission on Children and Youth, I have planned a busy schedule of public hearings and meetings for the fall.  The two public hearings will give you and others from across North Carolina the chance to have input into the legislative process.  The topics for each hearing are not limited, and every speaker will be allowed time to talk about the issues that most concern them with respect to their children and families.

The work of this Study Commission continues my emphasis on supporting Alamance families and keeping them safe.  We hope to gather people's thoughts and make good recommendations to the 2009 General Assembly.  I urge you to attend a public hearing and be part of the public process.

As always, I value your input.  Please feel free to contact my office with any concerns, suggestions, or information you may have.  If you do not currently receive our email newsletters, please sign up.

During Session, my committee service includes appointments as Chair of the House Committee on Aging, Vice-Chair of the House Judiciary II Committee, and as a member of the following committees: Education Subcommittee on Community Colleges, Commerce, Finance, and Public Utilities.

I will continue to listen to all Alamance County citizens and to speak up for the needs of Alamance County.  Our children, our laid-off workers, our disabled neighbors and senior citizens will be at the legislative table with me.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with your concerns at aliceb@ncleg.net.

Sincerely,
