Energy & Environmental Conservation

o        Rep. Bordsen has sought to preserve our environment without stifling business development and workers' ability to find jobs.  As in years past, in this session she sponsored a successful initiative to preserve farmland and the agricultural way of life in North Carolina.

o        Rep. Bordsen has also supported funding for Preservation North Carolina, an organization which seeks to preserve historic and natural sites in North Carolina.

o        As energy costs continue to rise, conservation is more important than ever.  This Session, Rep. Bordsen supported several energy-related initiatives: an income tax credit for energy efficient homes, energy efficient state motor vehicle fleets, and energy conservation in State Buildings.

o        Rep. Bordsen has also supported initiatives to continue the creation of three statewide trails: the Mountains to Sea State Park Trail, the N.C. Trading Path Trail, and the N.C. Paddle Trails.

o        Finally, she favored an initiative to allow the state's voters to decide on a bond issue to preserve land and water.
