Community-Building

• No area of North Carolina has been immune to job loss in the past few years.  However, our citizens have shown a strong will to reinvest in themselves and their communities to build new economic prosperity.

• Rep. Bordsen has worked hard to assist local communities with their development efforts.  One of her 2006 proposals enhanced the community development corporations' ability to recruit employers and match skilled workers to jobs.

• Another initiative supported by Rep. Bordsen would fully fund the N.C. Housing Trust Fund, a flexible funding source for home repairs, mortgage lending and new home building.  Families, senior citizens, and the business community all benefit when community members are able to provide a safe, clean home for themselves.
